4 THINGS YOU LEARN BY FACING YOUR FEARS

4 THINGS YOU LEARN BY FACING YOUR FEARS

By Giselle Veratang | We all have fears – they are the indication we need to grow. Shine the light on the darkness of your life and watch yourself become truly filled with light, life and love.
1. You take responsibility for your Feelings
uppsala-sweden-psychology-study-erasing-fearWe live our lives thinking that our discomfort or unhappiness is caused only by others. Whether someone hurt you or had a big impact in your life, blaming this person for the emotions you create yourself is unfair.
You are the writer of your own story; you get to choose how it’s going to end.
Accounting for feelings like anger, sadness or jealousy can be a difficult thing to do but that is how you grow. Own your feelings, or they will own you.

2. YOU ARE NOT ALONE

adbusters_99_fear-of-flying_s
Just like you are hurting, so is the person who hurt you; it’s just that you will don’t know how they really feel. They are human just like you and they feel just like you. They might not be feeling the same thing at the same time but guaranteed they, too, feel lost and insecure in their own way, at their own time.
Try to understand that we all go through the same thing in our own way. We are all reflections of each other and that’s beautiful; it brings us together. We can reflect our shadow aspects off each other to shine the light on them and grow from our mistakes.

3. YOU ARE IN THE PRESENT MOMENT

You might dislike the way a certain person or situation makes you feel, and you can try to distance yourself from it, Fearbut you can’t distance yourself from your own feelings; they are inside of you. It is important that you look at the present moment and create a healthy output for unwanted emotions.
If you’re in a situation you don’t want to be in, leave it. If you’re interacting with someone you don’t want to, don’t. Sometimes we are obligated to do things we don’t want and those are the best moments for learning and growth.
Ask yourself why you don’t want to be doing whatever it is. Ignoring your problems will not make them go away, and when emotions build up they eventually lead us to do things we aren’t proud of.

4. YOU LEARN TO TRUST FEAR

Have you ever heard the quote “Fear is the pointer to your next adventure”?
9-fears-facing
Fear only exists within the mind; it does not exist in the world outside of us. It is an imaginary barrier we create for ourselves, a barrier that usually appears right before something great is ready to take place in our lives.
It is there from our ego, to keep us safe and comfortable. But just outside our comfort zone is where unreal magic exists.
When we make the choice to confront our fears there is a reward waiting on the other side. TRUST this feeling even when it may seem counter-intuitive because where there is fear there is also a hidden treasure.
Let fear show you the way.

Are You Living on Excuses or Living Life?

Having spent many years in the corporate world, I found that most people liked to blame others and look for excuses. It wasn’t in their consciousness for the most part that they could really do something different or that they created their reality. I remember in my early 20’s when I was always complaining and grumbling about someone or something. Well, at least until one day, when a man I worked with named Burt said to me quit complaining and do something different. If you don’t like your job get a new one, but things won’t really be different, you’ll just find something new to complain about. At first I was angry and then I thought about what he said and I decided that very day that I was going to stop complaining and make it my mission to create my own life instead of complaining about things. I was reminded recently of that very conversation when I saw this awe inspiring video.
Check it out here and let me know what you think in the comment box below! For me it made me think, so what’s your excuse for not being, doing or having all that I dream of. I’m continually working toward that goal and this remarkable young lady inspired me to examine closer. I hope you enjoy the video and it reminds you too, to examine what you are doing and what excuses you have for where you are at in life and why you haven’t achieved all of your dreams!

Triggered again? Why and How to Shift Your Experience

Triggered again? Why and How to Shift Your Experience

Triggered again?
We all get triggered at times. No matter how successful or enlightened someone is, when you desire more in your life than what is there, and you don’t discover why, I guarantee you will get triggered.
Every time you want to grow to the next level, accomplish more, make a greater impact, something has to shift in order to move to that next level of awareness.
If we aren’t doing our conscious work proactively then what happens is the universe, your guides, soul and God comply with your desire for change by showing you what you are creating now so you can shift it.
The more aware we are of our beliefs and to our intuition and guidance from our guides the easier we will be able to shift and transform our experience to manifest our greatest potential.
It can be really difficult when we get triggered to understand why what is happening is happening to us.
The first thing to do is to really get in touch with what you are feeling and thinking about yourself and the situation. As hard as it may be, see it as an opportunity for growth. Write down your experience.
Ask yourself how you are creating it. This is the hard part to take responsibility for what is happening.
So for example, you wanted someone to help you share what you do and they turn you down. So you may feel really hurt, disappointed, angry, rejected and unloved. You don’t understand why they or God isn’t helping you. You might feel like what you do isn’t valued, like your contribution isn’t valued. You may feel like you work so hard to make a difference and not meeting your goals. The difference between what you desire and what your beliefs and feelings are is what is creating your experience.
Those beliefs have been with you for a long time. Finding the source and clearing them will enable you to create a new experience. We usually need help and guidance to help us to see the truth.
In order to clear this you first have to ask for and be open to help from your guides, your soul and God. Once your intuition is open and you have a clear connection with your guidance you will be able to receive the answers and guidance to heal and shift your beliefs and experience and help others.
Even if you don’t feel like your intuition is open or clear, still ask for guidance and listen to your thoughts.
If you need help I am able to help you in my private sessions. I couldn’t imagine being without the help of my guides anymore than being without a computer.
This is why I created The Awakening to Your Inner Power Live Event to connect you to your own guidance to help you achieve your greatest potential and impact in the world. Learn more and Register: Click Here.

Never Give Up!

Have you ever felt like giving up? Like life’s too hard or that no one cares? We each have a gift to give in the world and when we “give up”, instead of moving forward in “faith and trust”, our actions change the world. If you think that you aren’t making a difference, just because no one has told you that you are, consider this. Whether you take action or don’t take action, you are affecting the people around you, you are affecting the energy in the world. With every action or inaction you are affecting the world and the people in and around you in a positive or negative way. I encourage you to watch this video and think about this. What gift am I taking away from someone else by my giving up? And, what am I willing to do to change and be the change I want to see in the world?

I would love to hear your comments and thoughts on this in the box below.

The Legacy You Leave

Your Legacy

Time flies by and we keep thinking that one day we will… Sound familiar, well I’m hear to invite you to watch this beautiful video and allow yourself to go deep within and ask this one simple question. At the end of your life will you be happy because you truly lived a life that made a difference, that you lived a life that touched other lives or will you be unhappy because you coulda, woulda or shoulda?

Share your thoughts by entering your comment below!
Dedicate yourself to leaving a powerful legacy to the world. Start some work on what this legacy might be. Look at the things that you already know you have accomplished. What are you good at? What do you love? What are you passionate about? About what topic do you notice yourself getting excited in conversations? What activities can have you engrossed for hours without noticing the passing of time?

Creative Manifesto

“The world without spirit is a wasteland. People have the notion of saving the world by shifting things around, changing the rules, and who’s on top, and so forth. No, no! Any world is a valid world if it’s alive. The thing to do is to bring life to it, and the only way to do that is to find in your own case where the life is and become alive yourself.” ~ Joseph Campbell

1. We are editors of life. We cut and paste its daily beauty and pain with the sharp scissors of our minds on the canvas of humanity.
As human beings we can only assimilate the world through selective perception. The more we train our perception, the more aware we become of the world around us, in its light and darkness.
We turn into what we digest on a daily basis. Due to our spongy nature, we must absorb carefully.
***
2. We regard Art as a dynamic matter of Now. Art is not just a museum affair. Objects are less than people and no work of art is ever finished. We are our own living collage of images, memories, experiences, relationships, thoughts and feelings.
As such, we must constantly make Art that is synonymous with Life, in order for it (for us) to keep on being art. By existing to our fullest potential we become our own greatest works of art. Whatever comes out of us is secondary to what’s already in us.
***
3. Life is short and it’s running through our fingers. Our hour won’t come in some kind of imagined, distant or near future, our hour is happening this very moment. Wherever we are – or are at, we’d like to make it count.
Be here now. And now. And now. And now. And now…
***
4. The only censorship we apply to ourselves is the kind that will censor other people’s genuine right to be whole.
Love the way you want to be loved and recognize a piece of you in every piece of life.
There are no strangers in this room. It’s just a bunch of Us. There are no tribes or constellations. Only lonely stars with a light of their own.
***
5. Life is homemade, painful, intelligent and beautiful. We avoid nothing, we want it all.
As creators, healers and journalists it is our duty to curate reality and communicate it in our own, unique words. We don’t want the shortcut, we want to walk on water and walk on burning ashes.
Give us the whole package, even if it takes longer and it demands more. If we’re going to jump anyway off of life’s inevitable cliffs, we might as well pick the highest one and use our own heart as the only parachute.
***
6. We long and steer toward the light but we don’t hide or get rid of the darkness. It’s only by accepting, integrating and finally reusing every bit of ourselves that we are able to meet and face life for what it is, in all its brightness and all the shadows it casts.
Fear is biodegradable fuel. We will never get rid of it, but we can recycle it into a more human-friendly version.
***
7. There is no time for apathy or mindless distraction. We’re natural, organic, living tissue. We are the skin of a broken world and as living metaphors, we must reflect it in both its greatness and its desperation.
There’s so much good to do, much to be mended and healed. One lifetime isn’t enough and less than our everything is too little.
 ***
8. We regard the human experience as an indivisible whole that includes all aspects of the human experience: physical, intellectual, relational, emotional and spiritual. We also recognize beauty and pain as the two common threads running through all of our life scripts.
For most of history, our different human elements have been divided, segregated, hidden, punished, misunderstood and ultimately, separated from the whole.
We want brains and beauty to make peace with each other, we want heart and mind to be friends, we want body and spirit to be a home to each other.
All our parts are created equal.
***
9. Our virtuality is just the tip of our iceberg-humanity. We are so much more than our words and the speed of our fingers.
The internet is, perhaps, the only truly democratic medium left, which allows us to reach freely across countries and oceans, intolerance and preconceptions and dive straight into each other’s hearts.
Thanks to our online connection, we’re now reuniting with each other and, in a strange way, with ourselves. We’re just one click away, so close we almost hear each other breathing.
Beyond this screen we’re also flesh and bones, with broken hearts and sweaty hands. We must never mistake our frames for the whole picture, but use this virtual frame to better understand our real pictures: the real, complex, breathing You and Me and everyone we know.
***
10.  Hey Frodo, it’s a lonely battle, and we need help taking the ring to Mordor. In this lifehouse, we collaborate, we share and e-hug daily. We can’t do this (or anything) alone. We need each other badly.
The only possible form of existence is co-existence. Beyond our own, unscripted individual stories, we’re part of a bigger, universal story to which we add every day with our thoughts and actions. We are responsible for the course of events and desperate status of our world.
When it comes to technology and communication, we’re at a place of synergy and synchronicity like never before. It is imperative that we make a mindful, heartfelt use of it.
Please hold my pixel hand, I promise you, the skin is there, even if you can’t touch it.
11. We know enough, we have enough, we are enough and we care enough to make it wonderful.
Now.

7 Ways to Attract Positive Energy

7 Ways to Attract Positive Energy

Positive-Energy
How much negative or positive energy we attract is something that is completely in the hands of every individual. While this is an extremely empowering bit of knowledge, it is also a tremendous responsibility that requires us to be careful about all our thoughts, actions and words. The following seven methods will help you lead a life that attracts more positive energy which in turn will lead to  more good things happening in your life.

1. Clean and Organize Everything

Everything from you car to your bedroom has an impact on how you feel through-out the day. When everything is in a state of disarray it impacts the flow of our day in a negative way, whether it just visually bothers us or we have to literally spend energy searching fro something in our messy. Treat your space as if it is sacred to show that you value and appreciate having it, because chances are that many people in the world would love to  live in the luxury that you do. By introducing order and a good flow into places you spend time, it will give you a safe place for wonderful things to enter into your life.

2. See the Positive Energy that is Already Present

A common mistake is to overlook all of the wonderful things that are already present in life. Always look for the good in every situation, so that you can come into the experience with an open mind ready to receive the wondrous grace that is in every moment.

3.  Visualize a Life of Contentment and Peace

Spend the time to visualize a life where you are satisfied and happy. Only when we open up ourselves to the potential for good and positive things will they begin to come our way.

4. Do NOT Worry about the Future

Part of breaking away from negative energy is learning to stop assuming the worst will happen. Learn to anticipate positive things coming your way rather than constantly worrying about imaginary scenarios. Focus your attention on all the great things that are coming your way.

5. Love Yourself- Mistakes and All

Many people hold resentment towards themselves for making mistakes in the past. No one can take the clock back to undo mistakes. Just know that every bad experience is a chance to learn, and the only place you can work on improving things is in the present.

6. Follow the Three Folds Law

The three fold law states that everything you put out in the world will come back to you three-folds. Know deep within that all of the positive energy you put out into the world will eventually come back to you. Whenever making a decision, assess what the consequences in the future may be.

7. Do NOT Speak Negatively

Words are powerful tools that can take life in many different directions. Everything you say can have huge consequences. Learn to think more before you speak. When you are thinking about what you are saying determine whether it is negative or positive. If it is the latter avoid keep your lips sealed and dismiss the thought as something to negative to welcome in your life.

7 Helpful Pointers To Activate The Flow Of Abundance

7 Helpful Pointers To Activate The Flow Of Abundance

7 Helpful Pointers To Activate The Flow Of Abundance

Source: Norah Sands (How To Align With The Universe To Win The Lotto)

We all want abundance in some form or another, whether it is wealth in the monetary sense to being richly blessed with meaningful relationships or even to achieve self-mastery — the wealth of spirit.  In this past decade, and, even prior to that, we have been introduced to the idea of the Law of Attraction with popular books such as The Secret and the Jerry and fEsther Hicks series, just to name a few.
So Why Is It Still Hard To Manifest Our Desires?

We hear catch phrases like ‘ Be in the Flow’ but what does that practically mean to you?  How can you step into this flow and apply it to your situation or reality?  Wishful thinking just isn’t cutting it for some.  Here are some fundamental reasons why it may not be working for you:

1. PATIENCE

I have to get this one out of the way first because it is a simple yet integral principle when you are applying deliberate manifestation.  You need to learn the art of patience.  Think of a seed — it gets planted but it still needs time, rich nutrient and mineral-based soil, sunshine and water to blossom into its full growth potential.  Any hint of doubt (or drought, in the case of our seed) will hamper its chances of reaching the surface and begin its graceful climb towards fruition.

2. ACTION

Once you have ascertained what you do want to create in your life, have you taken the necessary steps to get the wheel in motion?  If you think that ‘couch manifesting’ is going to take care of everything, let me tell you now — it isn’t.  You need to actively participate in bringing about your desire.  Set yourself realistic goals and hold yourself accountable to them.

3. MINDSET

The world is full of abundance and opportunity, but far too many people come to the fountain of life with a sieve instead of a tank car… a teaspoon instead of a steam shovel. They expect little and as a result they get little. ~ Ben Sweetland
if you are having thoughts of lack about what you want to see in your life then that is what you are calling into existence.  This is like wanting to lose weight but only concentrating on all the most fattening foodstuffs — this kind of thought-stream is counter-productive.  Instead of thinking the worst, think about the way you will feel when it does come into your life.  How will it change your life?  Does it feel good when you are in that space of living out your fantasy?  If the answer is yes, then that is the emotion or feeling that you need to fertilize, in your mind, whenever you are practicing co-creation.

4. VIBRATION

As I addressed in the last point, when you truly allow yourself to feel the desired outcome emotion, it enhances your power to manifest tenfold.  Think of ‘ the thought’ as the key in your ignition; ‘ The action’ is the spark that ignites the engine and ‘ the feeling’ or emotion behind the thought is the gas that gets it all going — the driving force.

5. ALIGNMENT

Abundance is not something we acquire. It is something we tune into. ~ Wayne Dyer
You need to regularly align to what it is you want.  Set yourself that weekly goal and check in with yourself.  Has this week seen you get any closer to what you want?  If not, why not — what could you have done differently?  Sometimes we have to assess that what we are trying to manifest is still truly what we want.  If you change your mind then that is fine, just don’t kid yourself.  If you change midstream to another outcome it is better than plodding along with a manifestation that you are now uncertain about.  Your emotional potency will also be lacking if it is not what you want anymore, so, as the old adage goes, it will be like breaking wind against thunder (slightly euphemized for this blog).
What Can I Do To Bring Abundance Into My Life Now?
Well, now that the blockages have been outlined, let’s take a look at what you can do in this moment and in the near future to bring about the expediency of your manifest will.
The energy behind any deed needs to be from your genuine source.  Any fake or compromised gestures will be meaningless in the pursuit of true abundant living.
Metaphorically this is like taking a flat battery and expecting it to work in your camera.  What goes around comes around, the intent you put out into the universe will come back to you, so, if you are handing out ‘empty’ words or actions, your boomerang effect will be just as hollow and meaningless.  Acting with true integrity is the key to manifesting the life of your dreams.

6. TOKENS OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

Life in abundance comes only through great love. ~ Elbert Hubbard
When you visit someone or just bump into them, bestow a gift upon them.  This could be a silent blessing, well-wish, compliment (make sure it is genuine), a heart-felt hug, a flower or a small gift.  With this action you are giving freely.  Do not expect anything in return, that will be taken care of energetically in a way that you may only come to realize when it happens.

7. GRATITUDE

Whatever we are waiting for – peace of mind, contentment, grace, the inner awareness of simple abundance – it will surely come to us, but only when we are ready to receive it with an open and grateful heart. ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach
List all the things that you have in your life now that you are most thankful for.  This could be from the smallest thing to the largest thing.  For example, you may feel immense joy sitting in your garden — give thanks for that.  You may have a pantry full of food and a roof over your head — give thanks for that, and so the gratitude ball starts rolling and we start to have a clear insight as to how much abundance already exists in the present.  When you start this exercise, you will find more and more things that you can be grateful for from the air that you freely breathe to the limbs that operate at your will.  It is a truly eye-opening experience for those who think they are lacking in some way or another.
But Why Should This Work?

The reason why this does work is because the more elated you feel about your current situation, the more joy you are injecting into your energetic field.  This doesn’t just get lost in space, it is a frequency that you are emitting outwards and it is going to be matched.
This is how our lives really work in the subtle field of energy.  Your energetic signature or emotional frequency is what you are setting yourself up to attract.  You are like a magnet, attracting that to you which you are putting out via your emotions or feelings.  This is why it is imperative that your thoughts are steered towards being more positive, which will then allow your feelings to be in alignment with what you do want.
You cannot bring into your experience joy if all you are feeling is sadness.  You cannot be wealthy if all you feel is lack.  These are basic principles that, unfortunately, too often get overlooked when we try to view our own lives and how they are turning out.  It is often hard to face the truth that what you put in, you get out.  But if you are to make any headway in this life, you need to face the core truth of what you are creating consciously or even subconsciously.  This is actually good news!
Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life
Life isn’t going to just randomly happen to you anymore — you are always in full control of your life and can guide it in any direction you choose.  You always have a choice, never forget that — our freewill is our greatest asset.
This isn’t to say that your life is going to be all cotton-socks and pink roses — you may very well have your fair share of everyday mishaps.  What will change is how you perceive these obstacles and what you choose to do with them.  The world isn’t going to change, it is how you view it that will make the change you desire.
Put into this world what you wish to get out and you will be in the flow.  You will be in the driver’s seat steering your life into abundance.

The Power of Mindset

by ANTHONY on FEBRUARY 12, 2012

As children we each begin our lives with an incredible gift – The gift of an Open Mindset. We truly believe that we can do, be, or have ANYTHING. If someone asks us what we want to be when we grow up, we tell them that we want to be a palaeontologist and archaeologist, who is also a part-time astronaut and professional soccer player. However, as we ‘grow up’ people and circumstances begin to impose limits on our thinking, and all too often we lose our open mindset, and instead adopt a closed mindset that stifles our growth and prevents us from reaching our full potential. For example, as a boy Luke loved to draw. Most of all he loved to draw animals. He would spend hours with his sketchbook and a box of crayons, happily drawing horses, birds and lions. His parents encouraged his efforts and when he was seven they took him to an art class run by a gruff old woman named Mrs. Dubrovsky who was a ‘professional’ artist. Each week, Mrs. Dubrovsky set up a collection of bottles, glasses and fruit on a table and told her students to draw them. Luke did his best but he really wasn’t interested in drawing fruit – he wanted to draw lions. By the end of the semester, his interest had waned. On the last day of term, he overheard Mrs Dubrovsky tell his mother that, “Luke does not have the temperament required to be an artist.” In that instant, Luke’s mindset slammed shut like a prison door. His teacher had said that he couldn’t be an artist so… he stopped drawing. This could be the end of the story, but fortunately, as an adult, Luke discovered a powerful
5-step process to unlock his fixed mindset and reconnect with his childhood passion.

Step 1: Refuse to accept the limitations imposed on you by other people It took over 35 years, but eventually Luke came to the realisation that Mrs Dubrovsky was NOT a world-renowned artist, but rather, just a local art teacher who had no idea how to nurture children’s passion for art. Luke made the conscious decision to reject her assessment of his ability, and reconnect with his desire to draw, which had lain dormant in his heart for so many years.

Step 2: Make Time to DO Luke’s next step was to find time to pursue his passion. Now 42, he was extremely busy juggling the demands of his work and family. However when he examined his weekly timetable carefully, he discovered that he had two hours to himself every Thursday evening, when his wife took their daughter to piano lessons. He decided to dedicate this time to drawing and painting.

Step 3: Make Time to LEARN Luke also realised the importance of continuous learning. He would have loved to book into a regular art class, but he just didn’t have the time, so instead he picked up a copy of the book ‘Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain’ and took it to work with him. During his lunch break, he found a quite spot and read the book and worked through the exercises. He was amazed at the progress he made, and this quickly became a highpoint of his day.

Step 4: Select Your Teachers with Care After his childhood experience with Mrs Dubrovsky, Luke realised the importance of selecting the right teacher for each stage of his journey. After completing the ‘Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain’ book, Luke purchased a DVD by wildlife artist Joe Weatherly. After learning a great deal in his own time, and developing his skill through consistent practise, eventually Luke was ready to find an art teacher. He talked with many professional artists and eventually found someone who he respected and enjoyed spending time with. Over the next two years, his new teacher helped Luke take his drawing and painting to a whole new level

. Step 5: Enjoy the Journey and the Destination Even though Luke was starting to draw later in life, he was not disappointed by his early efforts. He did not see learning to draw as a painful journey that would eventually lead to something he could enjoy. On the contrary, he derived an incredible sense of joy from the process of learning. Every time he picked up a pencil and started drawing he felt a stirring in his heart and a sense that he was FINALLY doing what he was meant to do. Five years after making the decision to start drawing again, Luke held his first exhibition at a local gallery. Not only was he proud of the wildlife paintings that hung on the gallery walls, he was also proud of the fact that he had overcome the childhood limitations imposed on him by Mrs Dubrovsky. Today I’d like to encourage you to adopt an open mindset and understand that no matter what has happened in the past, you CAN achieve your most important goals in life, if you are willing to put in the time and effort required to bring them to fruition. All you have to do is:

 1. Reject the limitations imposed on you by others and decide exactly what it is that YOU want to be good at
 2. Find the time to DO
3. Find the time to LEARN
4. Select your teachers carefully
 5. Enjoy the journey and the destination
By following this 5-step plan, you can overcome longstanding limitations, tap into the optimism of your youth, and ultimately become the person you were always meant to be.

 Until next time,
Dare To Dream!

Rich in Good Works

By Pat Roberston

As we care for the poor, God cares for us

The Apostle Paul gives these instructions to Timothy, a young pastor: Tell those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which will soon be gone. But their trust should be in the living God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and should give generously to those in need, always being ready to share with others whatever God has given them. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may take hold of real life ?(1 Timothy 6:17-19 nlt).

Around the world, hundreds of millions of people live on about a dollar a day. They are starving, wracked with disease, and miserable. It is God’s plan and purpose that we help those who are suffering. When we do, He pours out such blessing that we can’t contain it!

And what a blessing it is to know that, together, we are giving people food, clothing and shelter. We are helping victims of earthquakes, floods, tornadoes and fires. We are providing medicine to those who are sick and suffering. Most important, we are sharing the Good News of Jesus with hurting people in America and around the world. It’s a tremendous privilege that we can bring truth to those who need the Savior.

Our job is to provide for those in need. And when we are rich in good works, the Lord richly gives us all we need. God bless you!

Happiness in LIfe: You Deserve It

Happiness in Life: You Deserve it!

Posted by Brian Tracy on Dec 2, 2010

Achieving your own happiness is the best measure of how well you are living your life and enjoying your relationships. You can learn how to be happier and more fulfilled in everything you do.

Everyone is Different

Happiness in life is like a smorgasbord. If 100 people went to a smorgasbord and each put food on their plate in the quantity and mix that each felt would be most pleasing to him, every plate would be different. Even a husband and wife would go up to the smorgasbord and come back with plates that looked completely different. Happiness is the same way. Each person requires a particular combination of those ingredients to feel the very best about him or herself.

Listen to Your Heart

And your mix is changing continually. If you went to the same smorgasbord every day for a year, you probably would come back with a different plateful of food each time. Each day-sometimes each hour-only you can tell what it takes to make you happy. Therefore, the only way to judge whether a job, a relationship, an investment, or any decision, is right for you is to get in touch with your feelings and listen to your heart.

Be True to Yourself

You’re true to yourself only when you follow your inner guiding light, when you listen to what Ralph Waldo Emerson called the “still, small voice within.” You’re being the very best person you can be only when you have the courage and the fortitude to allow your definition of happiness, whatever it may be, to be the guiding light of every part of your life.

There Are No Limits

A very important point on the subject of happiness is whether or not you feel that you “deserve” to be happy.

Accept the notion that you deserve all the happiness in life you can honestly attain through the application of your talents and abilities. The more you like and respect yourself, the more deserving you will feel of the good things in life. And the more deserving you feel, the more likely you will attain and hold on to the happiness you are working toward.

Make Happiness Your Key Measure

You should make finding happiness in life the organizing principle of your life. Compare every possible action and decision you make against your standard of happiness to see whether that action would make you happier or unhappier. Soon, you will discover that almost all of the problems in your life come from choices that you have made – or are currently making – that do not contribute to your happiness.

Pay the Price

Of course, there are countless times when you will have to do little things that don’t make you happy along the way toward those larger things that make you very happy indeed. We call this paying the price of success in advance. You must pay your dues. Sometimes these interim steps don’t make you happy directly, but the happiness you achieve from attaining your goal will be so great that it totally overwhelms the temporary inconveniences and dissatisfactions you have to endure in order to get there.

Action Exercises

Here are three steps you can take immediately to put these ideas into action.

First, accept that you deserve all the joy and happiness you can possibly achieve through your own efforts.

Second, make your own happiness the chief organizing principle of your life and judge everything against that standard. Follow your inner guiding light.

Third, be willing to work hard and pay the price for the satisfaction and rewards you desire. Always go the extra mile and your success will be assured.
